What happens after you submit your shipment details?

After you declare your items, Shippsy reviews the declaration against your invoice. Here's what the review checks and what to do if it's sent back.

After you click Submit on a declaration, your shipment moves to Processing while we review it. Customs declarations have to be accurate — CBSA assesses duties and taxes from what you declare, so we check every submission before a shipment can travel.

What the review looks at

  • Do the declared values match your invoice (in USD, after discounts or gift cards)?
  • Are the descriptions and quantities accurate? (A "2-pack" is one item with the pack size in the description, not quantity 2.)
  • Is the country of origin correct — and if you claimed an item was made in North America, did you attach acceptable proof?
  • Is the item on our prohibited items list?
  • Is the invoice itself valid and matching the vendor on the package?

If everything checks out

Your shipment becomes requestable (or, if you already clicked Request, it continues on its way). No action needed — you'll see the status move forward on your dashboard.

If something doesn't match

The shipment returns to Pending Details and you'll get an Action Required notification. Open the shipment and you'll see a Reason for Rejection explaining exactly what to fix — for example, a value that doesn't match the invoice, or a missing proof-of-origin document. Correct the details and resubmit; there's no penalty for resubmitting.

Tips to pass review the first time

  • Upload the actual purchase invoice showing the price you paid — order confirmations with prices work too.
  • If an item was free, a replacement, or part of a split shipment, say so in the comments box. Free items still need a declared retail value.
  • If you used a discount code or gift card, declare the amount you actually paid and mention the discount in the comments.
